Overview
Sherdog is one of the oldest MMA websites. Photographer Jeff Sherwood, nicknamed Sherdog, founded it in 1997 with help from Garrett Poe. It is now owned by Evolve Media LLC, after being part of the CraveOnline network.
Jeff Sherwood left the site in April 2016. Sherdog signed a content partnership with ESPN that included sharing its Fight Finder database and bringing its radio network into ESPN's podcast lineup.
What you'll find
The site publishes MMA news with UFC, PFL and women's MMA sections, plus boxing coverage. The Features section groups previews, opinion pieces and interviews. Rankings cover every division, men's pound-for-pound and women's pound-for-pound.
On the audio side, Sherdog runs several podcasts, including The Sheehan Show, After the Bell, the Shillan & Duffy Podcast and Check the Kick. Over the years the Sherdog Radio Network featured Jordan Breen, Yves Edwards and Bruce Buffer, with shows like Beatdown and The Neutral Corner.
The forum, built on XenForo, claims more than 60,000 members worldwide. And the Fight Finder database holds fighter records and the event calendar by promotion.
The radio network also produced the SRN Roundtables, which previewed events and then recapped them. The calendar lists upcoming cards from the UFC, the PFL and other promotions. In the divisional rankings, Joshua Van currently sits at the top of the flyweight list.
