The story of ONE Championship
ONE Championship was founded on July 14, 2011 in Singapore by Chatri Sityodtong and Victor Cui, under the name ONE Fighting Championship. The first event took place on September 3, 2011 at a sold-out Singapore Indoor Stadium. The promotion adopted its current name in 2015. It is owned by Group ONE Holdings, chaired and run by CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
Originally an MMA promotion, ONE added Muay Thai and kickboxing in 2018 with the ONE Super Series, then submission grappling in 2022. Since 2023, ONE Friday Fights has run every week at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, mostly with Muay Thai bouts. ONE Fight Night cards stream on Prime Video in the United States and Canada. The ONE Samurai series, launched in Japan in 2026, debuted on April 29 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
In MMA, Christian Lee holds the lightweight and welterweight belts, Tang Kai the featherweight belt and Joshua Pacio the strawweight belt. The heavyweight, light heavyweight and middleweight titles have been vacant since Anatoly Malykhin retired on May 15, 2026, and the women's atomweight title since Angela Lee retired on June 23, 2026. In 2018, ONE and the UFC traded the contracts of Ben Askren and Demetrious Johnson.
Several French fighters competed in ONE in 2026, mostly in Muay Thai and kickboxing: Isaac and Nahyan Mohammed, Elies Abdelali, Tom Casse, Yonis Anane, Sandro Bosi, Arthur Klopp and Bampara Kouyate. In MMA, Alexandre Khan fights at featherweight and Alexia Fontaine at atomweight. Belgium's Rahim Tcherchaiko competes in kickboxing. Senegal's Oumar "Reug Reug" Kane, who made his MMA debut with ARES, was heavyweight champion from November 2024 to May 2026.

Rules and format
- MMA: Global Martial Arts Rule Set, circular cage, 4-ounce gloves.
- Three five-minute rounds, five rounds for title fights. Soccer kicks banned since 2016.
- Weigh-ins include a hydration test, introduced after the death of fighter Yang Jian Bing in December 2015.
- Divisions: heavyweight (120.2 kg), light heavyweight (102.1), middleweight (93), welterweight (83.9), lightweight (77.1), featherweight (70.3), bantamweight (65.8), flyweight (61.2), strawweight (56.7), atomweight (52.2).
- Muay Thai and kickboxing: three three-minute rounds (five for titles). Submission grappling: one ten-minute round.
