Tapology is a free platform for MMA, boxing and other combat sports. It is independently owned and maintained, with no ties to promotions or sanctioning bodies. The site states that its predictions and rankings are not influenced or altered by any promotion.
Nolan King, who also reports for MMA Junkie, is the site's administrator.
What you'll find
The core of the site is FightCenter, a database of more than 387,000 fighters, 75,000 events and 887,000 bouts, plus more than 12,000 gyms. Every fighter, bout, event and gym has its own page, with schedules, results and history.
The community does the rest. Members pick the winner of each fight, the method (KO/TKO, submission or decision) and the finishing round. A correct winner is worth 50 points, with bonuses for getting the method and round right.
Points from predictions, forum posts and user-made rankings move you up a belt system: white, orange, blue, purple, brown and black, with up to four stripes each, and ranks beyond that. Black belt takes 80,000 points. Tapology also offers public or private fantasy leagues with custom scoring and event selection. A forum is created automatically for every fighter, bout, event and ranking.
Boxing is covered alongside MMA in the same database.
Why follow
Tapology covers far more than the UFC. With more than 75,000 events listed, the database reaches well past the major promotions, which makes it a practical tool for finding a local card or tracking a prospect.
Community picks also show you how fans see each matchup. And since boxing is covered too, you can follow both sports on one site.
Past black belt, the ladder keeps going up to the Spider Belt, which takes 1,200,000 points. The system rewards consistency: the more you predict and contribute, the higher you climb.
