Conor McGregor posted his first-ever TikTok video on Monday, October 12, cradling a baby goat with a grin on his face. The former two-division UFC champion used the clip to tease a coming announcement without giving away a single detail.
A goat as his calling card
In the video, McGregor introduces himself as “Mac” and holds a young goat he calls Goatiana. The name plays on the acronym GOAT, Greatest Of All Time, a title the Irishman has claimed for his own career for years, well before this latest stunt. He asked viewers to follow, like and comment, saying “goats recognize other goats.” The account drew quick attention from MMA outlets, who picked up the post throughout the day Tuesday and framed it as a classic piece of McGregor self-promotion.
An announcement promised, no details given
McGregor’s video references a coming announcement without saying what it covers. No fight date, partnership or business project is mentioned. The Irishman carries more than 57 million followers across his social accounts, roughly 11 million on X and 46.2 million on Instagram, a reach that guarantees wide distribution for any post he puts out, sports content or not. He has a long history of this kind of teasing on social media, mixing provocative statements with announcements that sometimes take a while to materialize.
The TikTok account passed 226,000 followers within hours of the video going up, based on figures recorded around the time of the post. The clip circulated all day Tuesday across MMA accounts, drawing a mix of amusement at the Goatiana cameo and skepticism about what the promised announcement will actually turn out to be. McGregor had not followed up with further detail on his other accounts as of Tuesday, and the UFC has not commented on the post.
Still recovering from knee surgery
The TikTok debut comes as McGregor remains out of the cage following his UFC 329 return in early July against Max Holloway. The Irishman, who had not fought since breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021, tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee early in the fight, the same joint he hurt in his first meeting with Holloway back in 2013, though on the opposite leg that time. Referee Mike Beltran stopped the contest at just 69 seconds.
McGregor has since given encouraging updates on his recovery. “Update: it was ACL and meniscus,” he wrote after his scans came back. He said he is now walking without a crutch and called a return “well within my realm” by next summer, meaning summer 2027. UFC CEO Dana White has said a possible Holloway rematch will only be discussed once McGregor is fully healed and able to train full time.
One UFC fight left, then bare-knuckle boxing
McGregor’s UFC contract calls for one more fight, slated for April 2027. Once that bout is behind him, the Irishman becomes a free agent, and he has already said where he plans to go next: bare-knuckle boxing. A BKFC stakeholder since April 2024, he called the promotion “unstoppable at the moment” and said on an Instagram live session, “I’ve one more to go, and then Mac Daddy is free.”
BKFC founder David Feldman has said he is optimistic McGregor will step into a BKFC ring once his UFC run is over, though he gave no firm date. Back in 2025, McGregor told The Schmo he pictured a surprise BKFC appearance, “no promo, no nothing,” a contrast with the heavy buildup that usually surrounds his fights. No opponent has been confirmed for that move, and no BKFC card has been linked to his name so far.
For now, the priority remains the recovery of McGregor’s right knee, which will shape the rest of his schedule. The April 2027 fight still needs to be made official by the UFC, which has not announced an opponent or a venue at this stage, and White has given no indication of where on the calendar it might land. American fans can track what comes next on the UFC schedule and the UFC rankings.
