Sara Luzar-Smajić is a Croatian bantamweight, the division’s world champion at KSW since May 2026. Her professional record stands at 7 wins and 3 losses, built in Italy, Croatia, and Poland.
Trained at UFD Gym, Sara Luzar-Smajić turned professional in Italy in the bantamweight division. On April 21, 2018, she lost a decision to Angelica Vezzoli at Manerba Fight Night, at the RDCXXIII event. It took her a year and a half to turn things around: on October 5, 2019, she stopped Kelig Pinson by KO or TKO in the first round at Fair FC 9, her first professional win.
On September 5, 2020, she added a decision win over Kaylee Vos at EMC 5. These early fights, held outside Croatia, laid the groundwork for a career built mostly on distance rather than quick finishes, before she joined a higher-profile promotion.
Sara Luzar-Smajić joined KSW in 2021. On September 4, she beat Aitana Alvarez by unanimous decision at KSW 63. On April 23, 2022, she edged past Natalia Baczynska-Krawiec by split decision at KSW 69, before suffering her second professional loss on July 23, beaten on points by Emilia Czerwinska at KSW 72. This first KSW run gave her three fights against top-ranked Polish opponents.
After this setback, Sara Luzar-Smajić changed promotions. On February 1, 2025, she was submitted by a rear-naked choke from Danielle Misteli at Oktagon 66, her third professional loss. She rebounded at FNC, a promotion based in the Balkans: a unanimous decision over Annabruna Rados at FNC Knockout 1 on May 3, 2025, then a split decision over Ivana Petrovic at FNC 26 on December 20, 2025. These two consecutive wins, both earned on the scorecards, revived her career ahead of an awaited return to KSW.
Luzar-Smajić returned to KSW to challenge Wiktoria Czyżewska at KSW 118 on May 16, 2026. She won by unanimous decision and became the promotion’s bantamweight world champion, a roster that also counts Mamed Khalidov and Salahdine Parnasse among its champions. It remains her most recent fight, and the first world title of her professional career.
Sara Luzar-Smajić’s record leans heavily toward the judges’ scorecards: 6 of her 7 wins went the distance, against a single finish by KO or TKO. Her two losses by decision and her lone loss by submission paint the picture of a fighter who looks to control the pace over time rather than rush to end the fight, including in her title bout against Wiktoria Czyżewska, which was also decided on points.
Across eight years of professional competition, Sara Luzar-Smajić has fought only one bout settled before the final bell, her opening win over Kelig Pinson in 2019. Every other fight of hers, whether a win or a loss, has gone to the judges’ decision or ended in a late submission, a rare profile among current KSW champions.
