Ciryl Gane is the first French fighter to hold the undisputed UFC heavyweight title. A former unbeaten Muay Thai fighter, he needed eight years of MMA to go from his first pro fight to the belt, winning interim gold twice along the way before being elevated to undisputed champion in September 2026. His first defense is set for November 14, 2026, against Josh Hokit at UFC 334 in New York.
Background
Born on April 12, 1990, in La Roche-sur-Yon, in western France, Gane came to combat sports late. He started in Muay Thai and went 13-0 with nine stoppages, winning the French AFMT title above 91 kg and defending it once. He then joined MMA Factory in Paris under coach Fernand Lopez. Before the UFC, he won the TKO Major League MMA heavyweight title in Canada and defended it twice.
