Raoni Barcelos is stable and conscious after losing consciousness in the fifth round of his fight with Raul Rosas Jr. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at UFC Vegas 121. According to the UFC, the 39-year-old Brazilian has full movement and remains under medical supervision at a Level 1 trauma center.
What the UFC medical update says
Barcelos left the Octagon at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on a stretcher before being taken to hospital. The promotion then issued this statement: “Barcelos is stable, alert and responsive, with full movement. He will remain under medical supervision.” According to Sherdog, the hospital ran a CT scan and a full assessment, and he stayed overnight for observation.
His coach Davi Ramos gave an update on Sunday, September 27: “Raoni is doing well. He has all his senses, he’s moving his leg, his arm, his hand, he’s conscious, he’s talking, everything is fine with him.” He added that Barcelos was undergoing “all the tests that are standard in a situation like this” and needed rest. No return date has been mentioned.
How the main event unfolded
This five-round bantamweight bout was Barcelos’ first UFC main event. Rosas Jr. took the early rounds with much sharper striking, then the Brazilian took control in the middle of the fight. According to Sky Sports and Sherdog, Barcelos was ahead on the scorecards heading into the fifth round.
At 1:38 of the final round, during a wrestling exchange against the fence, Rosas Jr. slammed Barcelos to the canvas. The Brazilian went limp and the referee stopped the fight immediately. The UFC recorded it as a TKO by slam. The two men combined for more than 300 strikes and earned Fight of the Night.
In the Octagon, Rosas Jr. first spoke about his opponent: “I want everybody tonight to please pray for Raoni Barcelos. He’s a warrior.”
Four fighters checked at the hospital
Barcelos was not the only one sent to hospital after the event. According to Uncrowned (Yahoo Sports), Rosas Jr. also had precautionary CT scans of his head and face after more than four rounds of hard exchanges.
Ailin Perez, who beat Norma Dumont on points (29-28 on all three cards), had a facial CT scan to rule out an orbital fracture. Ilimbek Akylbek, who won The Ultimate Fighter final by disqualification after an illegal knee from Mahammadali Osmanli, was also checked as a precaution. Full results are on our UFC results page.
What this result means at bantamweight
Rosas Jr., 21, improves his professional record to 13-1. It is his sixth straight win, tied for the longest active streak in the division according to Uncrowned, and his first win as a headliner. His previous fight was a decision win over Rob Font at UFC 326 on March 7, 2026.
Barcelos (22-6) sees a five-fight winning streak end. In the official UFC rankings in effect on Monday, September 28, Rosas Jr. sits at No. 12 and Barcelos at No. 13, in a division where Petr Yan holds the title and Merab Dvalishvili is ranked No. 1.
