Americans on the card
Joaquin Buckley, from St. Louis, Missouri, carries the American flag in the main event. Ranked No. 10 at welterweight, he holds notable wins over Colby Covington, Stephen Thompson and Vicente Luque, and a win over Malott would put a top-five matchup within reach. Erin Blanchfield, from New Jersey and the division’s No. 4 ranked flyweight, defends her position in the co-main event off the back of submission wins over Tracy Cortez, Jessica Andrade and Molly McCann.
Further down the card, Kyle Daukaus, Timmy Cuamba, Nate Landwehr and Chelsea Chandler round out the U.S. presence. Daukaus, a veteran of the middleweight division, meets Quebec’s Marc-Andre Barriault. Cuamba, fighting out of Las Vegas, takes on Montreal’s Louis Jourdain at bantamweight, and Chandler squares off with Calgary’s Melissa Croden in a women’s bantamweight bout.
What is at stake
A win keeps Buckley’s power-punching resume building toward a top-five matchup, while Malott, the top-ranked Canadian welterweight, fights in front of his home country with a case for the top ten on the line. It will be his second main-card headline appearance in the UFC.
Blanchfield looks to extend her hold on the No. 4 spot against a Jasudavicius camp coming off an April win over Karine Silva; a Jasudavicius win would be her first over a ranked top-five opponent. Elsewhere on the card, Kyle Nelson faces Mexico’s Cristian Perez at lightweight, and heavyweight Tanner Boser, fighting in his home province of Alberta, meets Brazil’s Jhonata Diniz to open the night. The next UFC date on the American calendar after Edmonton is UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on October 24, followed by UFC 334 in New York on November 14.
