Analysis

Mike Perry is an American fighter, a former UFC welterweight who successfully reinvented himself in BKFC bare-knuckle boxing, where he holds the King of Violence title. In the UFC he faced opponents including Geoff Neal, Vicente Luque and Santiago Ponzinibbio.

Background

Mike Perry, full name Michael Joseph Perry, was born on September 15, 1991, in Flint, Michigan. He started boxing at eleven and had a turbulent youth marked by run-ins with the law before settling in Florida, where he became a coach at an MMA gym in Winter Springs, which launched his fighting career. He has since earned a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt and trains in Orlando, Florida.

UFC career

Mike Perry made his professional debut in September 2014 and strung together nine wins by KO or TKO before joining the UFC in August 2016, where he beat Lim Hyun-gyu by TKO as a late replacement. He followed with wins over Danny Roberts, Jake Ellenberger and Alex Reyes, before a run of closer fights against Alan Jouban, Santiago Ponzinibbio and Max Griffin. He beat Paul Felder by split decision in 2018, then suffered his first finish loss in MMA, a submission defeat to Donald Cerrone. He then alternated wins and losses against Alex Oliveira, Vicente Luque, Geoff Neal, Mickey Gall, Tim Means and Daniel Rodriguez, the latter fight in April 2021 marking the end of his UFC contract, which expired after ten fights over the previous two years.

BKFC career

Mike Perry signed with BKFC in October 2021 and reeled off six wins without a loss, by decision over Julian Lane and then Michael Page, by TKO over Luke Rockhold and Thiago Alves, and by corner stoppage over Eddie Alvarez in December 2023, a fight that earned him the symbolic King of Violence title. He defended it in October 2025 with a fifth-round referee stoppage over Jeremy Stephens, after scoring five knockdowns. He has also had two professional boxing bouts outside MMA, both losses, in 2015 and in July 2024 against Jake Paul.

MMA return

Mike Perry returned to MMA on May 16, 2026, five years after his last fight in the discipline, beating Nate Diaz by second-round TKO at a Netflix-streamed event in Los Angeles. He then lost by first-round TKO to Brandon Jenkins on August 29, 2026, in Orlando, at the first event of the Duel Arena promotion, a fight he had accepted as a replacement for Dillon Danis. It remains his most recent confirmed fight to date.

Fighting style

Mike Perry fights an aggressive striking-based style of MMA, rooted in his early boxing background, with a large majority of his wins coming by KO or TKO. He holds a Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt but has never recorded a submission win in professional MMA. In bare-knuckle boxing, his pressure style and punching power have produced several quick stoppages, including five knockdowns in his title defense against Jeremy Stephens.
