Undefeated in professional MMA.
Thad Jean, nicknamed The Silverback, is an American fighter undefeated through twelve professional fights, who became PFL welterweight world champion on July 25, 2026. Trained at Fight Sports in Deerfield Beach, Florida, he won his title by TKO in the third round against Ernesto Rodriguez.
Born on July 16, 1998, in Florida, to Haitian parents, Thad Jean grew up in Fort Lauderdale, where he trains at Fight Sports in Deerfield Beach. He began his professional career on August 6, 2021, submitting Sage Philippe with a rear-naked choke in the first round of CES MMA 63. He followed with TKO wins over Thomas Majeski at Cage Fury FC 102, then over Sarek Shields at LFA 128, the latter fight contested at a catchweight after Jean missed weight. After a unanimous decision win over Georgie Medina on a Combate Global card, he beat Eric Alequin on January 27, 2023, at PFL Challenger Series 9, a win that earned him a spot in the PFL.
Signed by the league in 2023, Thad Jean kept winning through the PFL’s annual tournaments. He beat Ali Omar by TKO in the 2023 playoffs, then Romain Debienne by KO and Chris Brown by unanimous decision during the 2024 season. In 2025, he won in succession against Mukhamed Berkhamov by KO, Jason Jackson by split decision, then Logan Storley by unanimous decision over the full five rounds of the final, claiming the PFL’s 2025 welterweight world tournament. On July 25, 2026, at PFL Washington D.C., he faced Ernesto Rodriguez for the welterweight title left vacant by the withdrawal of Shamil Musaev, who was sidelined by weight-cut complications. Jean won by TKO in the third round to become PFL welterweight world champion, pushing his professional record to twelve wins without a loss. He thereby joined Johnny Eblen among the promotion’s reigning champions.
Thad Jean’s record, built roughly half on TKO or KO finishes, reflects notable punching power: six of his twelve wins have come by punches, three of them in the first round. His five other wins by decision, two of which went the distance, also show an ability to manage a fight over the long haul against experienced opponents such as Logan Storley, a former Bellator finalist. Standing 6’2″ (188 cm) and fighting at welterweight with a 6’4″ (193 cm) reach, Jean carries a size advantage he puts to use with distance boxing, before looking for the opening to land his punch combinations.
