Salahdine Parnasse aurait signé à l'UFC, tête d'affiche annoncée face à Dan Hooker à Paris

In Brief

  • According to a report from journalist Ariel Helwani, picked up independently by Yahoo Sports, Yardbarker, MMA Mania and Bloody Elbow, Salahdine Parnasse has reportedly signed with the UFC.
  • He would face New Zealand’s Dan Hooker in the main event of UFC Paris, on Saturday, September 5, at the Accor Arena.
  • Neither the UFC nor Parnasse has confirmed the news on their official channels: the event page on ufc.com currently shows neither name.

The saga has been running since April. Since leaving KSW, where he reigned over two divisions, Salahdine Parnasse has been the subject of repeated rumors about his next destination, between the UFC, Michael “Venom” Page’s stable, or Scott Coker’s new league. This time, the information is of a different nature: it no longer comes from a consultant relayed by French-language sites, but from Ariel Helwani, one of the most followed journalists in MMA, whose reports are generally treated as reliable across the industry.

A Signing That May Have Finally Come Through

According to this report, Salahdine Parnasse has officially signed with the UFC and would make his debut under that banner on September 5 in Paris, against Dan Hooker, in the main event. Yahoo Sports, Yardbarker, MMA Mania and Bloody Elbow each picked up the information citing Helwani as the source, which clearly sets this case apart from previous rumors about Parnasse: this is no longer a single insider relayed by several aggregators, but several separate outlets independently reporting an identified journalistic report.

The Frenchman had turned down the UFC in 2024, judging the offer far below his KSW contract, where he held both the featherweight and lightweight belts. Two years later, the American promotion reportedly revised its offer upward to sign the fighter some observers call the “Mbappe of MMA.” At 28 years old, Parnasse has spent several years building one of the best win streaks in MMA outside the UFC.

Dan Hooker, a Tough Test for a Debut

If the information is confirmed, Parnasse would not have been handed an easy opponent for his debut. Dan Hooker remains a ranked name at lightweight, even though he is going through a rough patch with two straight losses, to Arman Tsarukyan and then Benoit Saint-Denis, after a three-fight win streak between 2022 and 2024. A win over the New Zealander would mark, for Parnasse, an explosive entry into MMA’s premier global division, with the added advantage of a Paris crowd behind him.

Nothing is official until the UFC confirms the information through a formal statement or Parnasse himself makes a statement. The page dedicated to the September 5 event on ufc.com currently lists neither Parnasse nor Hooker, a gap that may simply reflect the time needed to update the site following news that has only just broken. On social media, several specialized accounts are pointing to an imminent official announcement, though without any direct confirmation from the organization or the fighter himself either.

A Story That Has Dragged On Since April

Since his departure from KSW in April, almost every week has brought a new rumor about Parnasse’s destination: an offer to fight in Paris in September, a hint dropped on social media, a stated preference for the UFC over MVP or Scott Coker’s still-unnamed league. All of this information had one thing in common so far: it traced back to a single consultant, relayed by a handful of French-language sites that were careful to use the conditional tense. Helwani’s report changes the picture, both in its source and in how it has been picked up independently by leading English-language outlets.

If the signing is confirmed, it would end a year and a half of uncertainty for one of the best fighters in the world outside the UFC. Featherweight and then lightweight champion at KSW, where he had not lost since turning professional, Parnasse has a record that has, until now, never been tested against the division’s world-class competition. A main event slot in Paris, in front of his own crowd, would also let the UFC maximize the commercial impact of an arrival the organization has itself been awaiting since 2024.

MMA Official will follow this story closely and will update this article as soon as an official confirmation from the UFC or Salahdine Parnasse becomes available.
