Luke Thomas is an American MMA analyst. He was a writer and podcaster at MMA Fighting, the Vox Media site, where he hosted Monday Morning Analyst and appeared on The MMA Beat and The MMA Hour. He went on to host The Luke Thomas Show on SiriusXM and MMA Nation on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C.
He also cocreated the USA Today/SB Nation Consensus MMA Rankings with USA Today. Before his media career, he served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps, reaching the rank of sergeant, and he graduated from the College of William & Mary. He now hosts Morning Kombat alongside his own channel.
On his YouTube channel, which has about 236,000 subscribers, Thomas posts weekly live news shows, UFC card previews, long form interviews and in depth analysis of fights and fighters.
He also runs a second channel, Luke Thomas Gets Political, which covers topics outside MMA. If you are there for combat sports, stick with the main channel.
Thomas has covered MMA for a long time, across online media, radio and YouTube. That background lets him place every fight in the history of the sport and of the promotion. His previews give you what you need before you watch a UFC card: styles, rankings stakes and how the fight could play out.
His role in building a consensus ranking with USA Today reflects a real interest in how each division is ordered. His deep dives are useful if you want to understand why a fighter won or lost beyond the result on the scorecard. His years at MMA Fighting, where he worked on The MMA Hour, also mean he knows the media side of the sport well, from reporting to hosting. Between the main channel and Morning Kombat, you can follow his read on the sport several times a week.
This is for fans who want to go deep on UFC fights. Start with his preview of the next big UFC card to get a feel for his method. Then catch one of his weekly live shows, and add Morning Kombat on Mondays and Fridays if you also follow boxing.
