UFC Vegas 122: Three Fighters Miss Weight Before Las Vegas Card

Three fighters missed weight at Friday’s weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 122, set for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Ismael Bonfim posted the biggest miss of the card, coming in seven and a half pounds over the lightweight limit.

Bonfim Misses Weight for the Third Time in the UFC

Ismael Bonfim weighed in at 163.5 pounds (74.2 kg) for his lightweight bout against Francisco Prado, seven and a half pounds over the non-title limit of 156 pounds (70.8 kg), which already includes the standard one-pound allowance. It marks the third time in his UFC career that Bonfim has missed weight, a pattern that is starting to follow him around the division. Prado made weight comfortably at 155.5 pounds. Both fighters agreed to proceed with the bout at catchweight rather than scrap it, and Bonfim will forfeit a percentage of his purse to Prado, the standard penalty the promotion applies in these situations. The UFC has not disclosed the exact percentage.

Two More Misses on the Card

Bonfim was not the only fighter to come in heavy on Friday. Brendson Ribeiro, booked against Felipe Franco at light heavyweight, weighed in at 208.5 pounds (94.6 kg), two and a half pounds over the non-title limit of 206 pounds. Franco made weight right on the number at 205 pounds. At strawweight, Ketlen Souza missed by a pound, weighing in at 117 pounds (53.1 kg) against a non-title limit of 116 pounds. Her opponent, Loopy Godinez, made weight at 115.5 pounds. As with Bonfim, officials confirmed both bouts would proceed with financial penalties attached for the fighters who missed. Three misses on a single Fight Night card is a notably high number, even though the UFC does not publish official statistics on how often this happens. Combined, the three fighters came in eleven pounds over their respective non-title limits, spread across the strawweight, light heavyweight and lightweight divisions.

Headliners Both Make Weight

The two main event fighters had no trouble on the scale. Brendan Allen weighed in at 186 pounds and Christian Leroy Duncan at 185 pounds for their five-round middleweight headliner closing out the card. The winner figures to move into serious contention in a division where the picture behind champion Sean Strickland remains unsettled, with Strickland currently in a public dispute with the UFC over pay. A decisive win by either man could factor into how the promotion handles the next challenger conversation as Strickland’s situation develops in the coming weeks.

What Happens When a Fighter Misses Weight

UFC rules allow a one-pound allowance above the official class limit for non-title bouts. A fighter who exceeds that typically gets a two-hour window to cut the remaining weight before a second weigh-in. When the gap is too large to close, as was the case with Bonfim’s seven-and-a-half-pound miss, the promotion and the opposing camp negotiate a catchweight bout with a financial penalty paid by the fighter who missed. If the opponent declines, the bout is scrapped entirely, an outcome avoided in all three cases at Friday’s weigh-ins in Las Vegas. For Souza and Ribeiro, the one-pound and two-and-a-half-pound misses were close enough to the limit that neither opponent appeared to consider walking away from the fight, based on both bouts being confirmed to proceed as scheduled.
