Week 9 of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 goes down Tuesday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, streaming live on Paramount+ at 7 p.m. ET. Five unbeaten or near-unbeaten prospects are chasing UFC contracts, led by hometown finisher Sal Everett.
Weigh-ins confirm five fights
All ten fighters made weight at Monday’s weigh-ins, with no missed-weight issues reported. In the women’s bantamweight opener, American Alivia Bierley (135.5 pounds, 61.4 kilograms) meets England’s unbeaten Summer Onley (136 pounds, 61.7 kilograms). At welterweight, Las Vegas’s own Sal Everett (170 pounds, 77 kilograms) faces fellow unbeaten American Ozzy Martin (170 pounds, 77 kilograms). At flyweight, Peru’s Alexander Chavez (125 pounds, 56.7 kilograms) takes on Brazil’s Roque Conceicao (124.5 pounds, 56.5 kilograms). At bantamweight, Japan’s Ryuho Miyaguchi meets Brazil’s Mateus Soares. And at light heavyweight, France’s Nell Ariano (205 pounds, 93 kilograms) fights late replacement Preston LaGrange of the United States (199.5 pounds, 90.5 kilograms).
Sal Everett, the hometown finisher
Everett, who trains at Freestyle MMA and works for the UFC in Las Vegas, has finished all four of his professional wins in the first round, including a four-second knockout. He meets Ozzy Martin, also 4-0 and carrying a background in professional kickboxing and boxing before he turned to MMA. Either man could leave the Apex with a UFC contract in hand if Tuesday’s performance impresses Dana White, who hands out deals on the spot with no judges’ scorecards or ranking committee involved.
Unbeaten strikers across the card
The women’s bantamweight main event pits Bierley, who has dealt with weight-cutting issues in the past, against England’s Summer Onley, the reigning FCC champion whose opponents carry a combined record of 21-5. At flyweight, Peru’s Alexander Chavez, a former Inka FC titleholder, puts his 9-0 record and knockout power on the line against Brazil’s Roque Conceicao, a Season 9 veteran who trained in Japan after a knockout loss. Bantamweight entrant Ryuho Miyaguchi, who lost a Road to UFC tournament bout by submission, looks to rebound against Brazil’s Mateus Soares, the reigning MAC champion known for finishing fights early. Light heavyweight late replacement Preston LaGrange, 6-1, stepped in after absorbing a slam knockout from Brandon Holmes in his last outing, and now meets unbeaten Frenchman Nell Ariano, a tall, rangy striker out of Platinum MMA Training Center.
A direct path to the roster
Created by UFC CEO Dana White, Contender Series gives independent fighters from outside the UFC’s usual pipeline a direct path onto the roster. A standout performance can earn a contract immediately after the final horn, bypassing regional title runs or ranking requirements entirely. Season 10 is winding down with this penultimate episode, and it already ranks among the most productive seasons in the show’s history for contracts handed out.
A welterweight bout that could end fast
For Everett, a win keeps his first-round finishing streak intact entering a potential UFC run. For Martin, it is a chance to show his striking background translates against another unbeaten finisher. Neither man has been tested past the first round as a professional, so Tuesday’s welterweight bout could be decided in a matter of seconds.
How to watch
Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10, Week 9 streams live Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT, 6 p.m. CT, 5 p.m. MT) on Paramount+, with the card also airing for UK and Central European viewers in the early hours of Wednesday. Full results and contract announcements will be tracked at mma-official.com/en/ufc-results and mma-official.com/en/american-ufc-fighters.
An international flyweight clash
The flyweight pairing adds an international wrinkle to the card. Chavez has stopped two-thirds of his opponents by knockout since turning pro, and a win over Conceicao, who has already been through a Contender Series fight once before, would make him one of the most hyped unsigned flyweights on the independent circuit. Conceicao’s own path back to the Apex included a training stint in Japan after his most recent knockout loss, a detail that speaks to how closely fighters study their own setbacks before a second Contender Series shot.
A showcase built for American fans
Paramount+ streams every Contender Series card live from the Apex, the same gym and fight set the UFC uses for its own in-house programming, giving American fans a first look at prospects before any of them sign with the promotion.
With Week 9 marking the penultimate episode of Season 10, Tuesday’s card carries extra weight for anyone still hoping to join the roster before the season closes. A clean finish from Everett, Chavez, or either bantamweight entrant would add another name to the list of contracts awarded so far this season.
