Analysis

Rodtang Jitmuangnon, nicknamed The Iron Man, is a Thai Muay Thai fighter competing for ONE Championship. A former Muay Thai flyweight world champion, he is regarded as one of the most prolific and aggressive strikers of his generation.

Career

Born Tinnakorn Srisawat on July 23, 1997, in Pa Phayom, Phatthalung province, Thailand, he began Muay Thai at age 7. He moved to Bangkok at 14 to join Jitmuangnon Gym, from which he takes his ring name, and racked up more than 300 professional fights before even turning 25. He also trained at Looksaikongdin and Fairtex gyms between 2020 and 2022, before returning to train at Jitmuangnon Gym. This volume of experience built up so early, rare even for a Thai fighter, largely explains the technical maturity and resilience he has shown from the moment he arrived on major international stages.

Career in His Main League

Rodtang established himself at ONE Championship, where he became Muay Thai flyweight world champion on August 2, 2019, after beating Jonathan Haggerty. He confirmed his dominance over the same opponent on January 10, 2020. He held the title for more than five years, until being stripped of it administratively on November 8, 2024, for failing to make weight. He has also tried his hand at MMA, where he lost by submission to Demetrious Johnson on March 26, 2022, in a hybrid bout alternating Muay Thai and MMA rules. On September 22, 2023, he lost on points to Superlek Kiatmuu9. He returned to competition with a KO win over Takeru Segawa on March 23, 2025. That brief MMA run, closed out with a single loss, confirms that Rodtang remains first and foremost a standup specialist, and he has since favored a full return to Muay Thai rules, where he built the bulk of his reputation.

Fighting Style

Rodtang fights an offensive, forward-pressing style of Muay Thai, built on a high volume of strikes and an uncommon physical resilience for his weight class. His constant pressure, paired with repeated knees and elbows, makes him a feared opponent at any range. His venture into MMA exposed gaps in submission defense, an area where his pure striking background reaches its limits against grappling specialists such as Brandon Moreno, Alex Perez, or Manel Kape, regulars of the MMA flyweight division. That difference in skill set explains why his rare appearances inside an MMA cage remain a side note in a career built almost entirely in rings and cages dedicated to Muay Thai, where his striking ability is usually enough to win the decision.
